Labeotropheus fuelleborni is one of the mbuna of Lake Malawi, in Africa’s Rift Valley. They feed on the aufwuchs (algae and lifeforms in it) growing on rocks in shallower reef environments in the lake. The fleshy nose is thought to help give leverage in pulling the algae free. L. fuelleborni grows to around 12cm, and the photo shows my only specimen, a male about 16 months old.
